Blooming Landscape & Design, LLC is seeking an experienced, self-directed Landscape Designer to join our growing team for the upcoming season (April–November), with long-term opportunities available for the right candidate.
We are a full-service landscape design, installation, and maintenance company serving Durango and the Four Corners region. We specialize in regenerative, pollinator-friendly landscapes using native and perennial plant communities, rain and stormwater harvesting, organic soil-building practices, and pesticide- and herbicide-free methods. We are certified in permaculture design and install food forests in both urban and rural settings.
Our mission is to transform the landscaping industry from one dominated by lawns and exotic plantings into one that restores biodiversity, supports pollinators and birds, and creates beauty, resilience, and healing for people and the planet.
We are looking for someone who can step in with minimal training, take ownership of projects, and confidently guide clients from concept through installation.
Position Overview
The Landscape Designer will lead residential and select commercial design projects from initial consultation through installation oversight. This role requires both strong design ability and consultative sales skills.
The ideal candidate is creative, technically skilled, highly organized, client-focused, and aligned with our regenerative philosophy.
Approximate workload: 30–40+ hours per week depending on seasonal demand.
Primary Responsibilities

Conduct initial client consultations and site visits

Perform detailed site analyses, measurements, and documentation

Develop scaled conceptual and final landscape plans

Produce 3-D renderings and presentation materials

Present designs to clients and confidently sell the installation

Prepare project estimates in collaboration with management

Bid projects and assist with closing sales

Provide design oversight during installation to ensure fidelity to plans

Research plant materials, regenerative strategies, and regionally appropriate solutions as needed

Assist with additional design and administrative duties
Required Qualifications

Degree or certificate in Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, or related field

Demonstrated experience developing professional landscape plans for clients

Proficiency in AutoCAD (minimum 6 months professional use) or comparable industry-standard drafting software

Experience with SketchUp or other 3-D rendering platforms

Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

Strong understanding of landscape design principles and best practices including plant materials, grading and drainage, hardscape integration, and installation protocols.

Ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines independently

Strong client communication and presentation skills

Experience with Excel or Google Sheets

Willingness to reside in or relocate to the Durango area for the season

Reliable personal computer and smartphone for communication

Be willing to work from home
Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing in the Southwest, particularly Southwest Colorado

Knowledge of native and drought-tolerant plant palettes
-
Familiarity with regenerative landscape principles

Permaculture design knowledge or certification (preferred but not required)

Experience in consultative sales or closing design-build projects

Compensation & Benefits
$25–$30/hour, depending on experience
